Packing a Green Laser Pointer: Storage and Product Limits
If you pack a Light Tracer pointer for an outdoor trip, treat it as a separate pointing device with a controlled beam path. It does not take the place of a headlamp, navigation tools, or emergency communication equipment.
Check the listed package contents
The product page lists a laser pointer, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, USB charging dock, carrying case, and removable kaleidoscope cap. Confirm the items in your package and read the supplied instructions before leaving.
The stated battery life is 4–6 hours. Actual runtime varies with use; this is not a guarantee of operation throughout a multiday trip or in freezing conditions. Follow the battery and charger instructions when charging, transporting, and storing them.
Protect against accidental activation
Switch the pointer off before packing it. Use its case and keep the controls from being pressed by other equipment. Keep it away from children. Handle and store the battery according to the supplied instructions.
IPX4 is the published splash-resistance rating. Do not assume the pointer can be submerged, left exposed to prolonged rain, or used after water enters the housing.
Keep a controlled beam path
Before any use, make sure the beam will not reach people, animals, vehicles, aircraft, or reflective surfaces. If you cannot control the beam path, keep the pointer off.
Do not sweep the sky as a rescue signal. See the limits of laser pointers in search and rescue for why advertised range does not establish rescue suitability.
Check the current product specifications and included accessories before deciding whether the pointer fits your intended use.
