Can a Green Laser Pointer Help With Night Navigation?

Light Tracer is a laser pointer, not a navigation instrument. It does not determine your position, confirm a safe route, or provide the broad illumination needed to move along a trail.

A visible spot is only one part of the scene

A bright endpoint can draw attention to a small area while leaving nearby footing and obstacles dark. Do not use a narrow beam to decide whether terrain is safe to cross. Carry ordinary lighting and navigation equipment appropriate to your route.

The site's advertised range of up to 6,000 ft does not promise that distant terrain can be examined in useful detail. Visibility varies with ambient light, weather, and viewing conditions.

Control the entire beam path

Never point Light Tracer at people, animals, vehicles, aircraft, or reflective surfaces. If the beam could travel beyond the area you can control, keep the pointer off. Do not sweep a landscape or sky to locate another person.

Do not assume multiday battery life

The product page states 4–6 hours of battery life and describes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It does not establish that one charge will last a particular multiday trip. Follow the supplied charging and storage instructions and plan your lighting needs separately.

IPX4 is the published splash-resistance rating. It is not a promise of operation after submersion or in all outdoor conditions.
